About a month ago or so I set out to take my *gulp* very first medium format film photos on the Contax 645. So, on a rare sunny day that made Dun Laoghaire (pronounced ‘Dun Leery” to my American friends) feel more like a quick holiday in Spain, I took a few photos while we had a lovely walk along the shoreline. Mind you, these photos were incorrectly exposed (rookie move!!) because I set my film speed to 800 and my film was Portra 400. (And also – the meter in the camera stopped working so it was good ‘ol “Sunny 16″ rule for me as I didn’t have a light meter at the time. Oh well.
You’ll see in my next posts all the lovely and correctly exposed photo I have. I’ll be bringing it with me hopefully to Italy for our anniversary, use it for an amazing spot I found for an engagement session, and some other fun ventures that I haven’t thought of yet…
Behold, the most photographed, cute, cuddle-y dog:
Lastly, for fun at a wedding I compared my Canon 5KMKII (image only colour corrected) to the Contax 645 with Portra 400. Can you guess which is digital and which is film? I could show you a few more photos which look SO far from similar and you can immediately tell which is which, but that wouldn’t very fun, now would it?
Is film image 1 or 2, Blogstalkers?

I know which but I won’t tell for those who want to guess! Film is so clearly better even when exposed wrong! Super I love them all!
Ah! I love this! Can’t wait to see more, I’m getting a Contax 645 soon-ish as well. Can’t wait to follow your journey into film!
