The session was shot throughout 1.5 days…why?? The entire day had been blissful with cool breezy winds, puffy white clouds, and warm golden sunshine…that is until Mother Nature kicked me in the face. The actual moment I arrive to the spot we were to meet, torrential downpour. Now, I can shoot when it slightly rains…but my cameras cannot shoot when hurricane Earl decided to take residence in Chicago for a lovely afternoon out. So, after scrambling and deciding what to do…two DAYS later (when it stopped raining) we were able to really shoot our session. And I must say, shoot it I did. There are more images from this session than I care to divulge, but after booking a later flight and staying days over in Chicago…it was the least I could do!

By the way, I blogged this session a bit differently…. Rhiannon is not only a lovely bride, but a very savvy planner and blogger extraordinaire. How lucky am I?!? Essentially I took the sweet tidbits from her blog. Andy – you are a gentleman and so caring throughout this entire process…Rhi is entirely lucky to soon call you her husband. And Rhi…well you already know you had me at Cupcake.

…and a personal image I took while it was raining on the first day. This is certainly going in my home.

Has one ever witnessed more perfect wind hair? Almost makes me feel like a National Geographic photographer endangering myself and my subjects within the elements for the sake of art. Almost.

… or a crazy girl that will go anywhere with any nut-job idea to make it happen. That sounds about right. I’m fairly certain that my neuroses pays off. Trust me. Please?

And then puffy golden-hued clouds took a sinister yet irresistible turn. Perhaps I just like fantasize, but doesn’t it look like the beginning formation of a tornado in the bottom right-hand corner?

I have to admit, I’m truly ashamed at the length of time it takes me to blog. I despise blogging. I hate blogging. I detest blogging. I loath blogging. I would say more but I’m out of synonyms. I’d rather run 8 miles than have to blog, kind of hate. Because really, the 8 mile run would go faster. Much faster. (And I’m not THAT good of a runner if you know what I’m hinting here…)

Photographers, media, and king and queen bloggers – what makes you so supernaturally bloggerful? I really do love to show each wedding and session, but I cave and spend countless hours pouring over each entry. I need therapy and I’m fairly certain I’m not alone here. If you have tips, leave a comment with your blog link!

R. J. Kern: Alas, you blogged. And isn't the feeling of sharing your work with the world worth it? I know, I know, pouring our thoughts into the Cloud seems silly, but I keep telling myself, people do like blogs... and they show so much more about who we are than just a portfolio. Afterall, clients are higher us, not just our work right? Lord knows I have about a dozen blog posts that started out as good ideas, but then never saw the light of day. I'd like to think writers who have to put something on paper have even a harder time. I'm looking forward to seeing your summer wedding work. All the very best!

After a long debate, I’ve decided its time. Wilcherologie is a customized proofing site for all of Amanda Wilcher Clients to be able to easily peruse their photographs, order custom prints, etc. all with a little eye-candy. You think this is good? Wait ’til our new site and blog is here. ….

(P.S.- For those of your who are used to Pictage and still have your photos located there – don’t worry. It will still be up for several more months just in case you need to access it or family/friends would like to order.)

Wedding. Travel. Wedding. Wedding. Travel. Wedding…. Somehow we didn’t actually get to photograph that many portrait or engagement sessions this year-only a mere handful. I do think though that for lack in quantity, we made up for it in quality. We’ve had the most dashing individuals to capture; I love their smiling faces.

At this point, I don’t even know what to pick for my favorites. Do you all even realize the shear number of images we capture in a full year? Its daunting really. 9 is MUCH harder than I initially realized as I find so many photos that merit my smile and catch my eye just as much the photo beside it. I only want to let everyone know that I’m meagerly attempting to remember some of my favorite moments from the past 365 days, and I’m sure to forget one or eighteen along the way. We can all forgive me though, right? Good.

Sandy, Derrick simply we adore you. I feel I have confidently done my job as a photographer when I really capture the spirit of the people captured through my lens. Yes, they really were that fun, loving, and happy. Sandy is one of THE NICEST people I’ve EVER met. Sandy, lets have shopping/dinner dates, capiche? Derrick’s charm is irresistible. I had more fun than should be allowed at their engagement and wedding. (Yes, they were married one week after their engagement session with us.) (Derrick-I’m really just trying to earn my way onto your boat this summer.) Oooooh Yes. That certain lake off of Lake Shore Drive and that has a Yacht club, lake. You know it. They know how to enjoy Chicago in the summer. ; ) Not that I’m jealous. Derrick & Sandy, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Why yes, I did make them stand in the middle of a busy highway with me. Hey, I was there too.

This makes me literally LOL. Although I SWEAR this was only coincidence, I have to reference the fabuloso Bobbi of Bobbi+Mike that posted one of her Chicago sessions a while before me and I remember quite clearly her mention of her um, “tripod” skills. I have my very own special tripod skillz too, Bobbi.

Here’s the post. (You’ll have to go down to the blurb at the bottom to see what I’m talking about.)

That night I was just rockin’ the original 5D with the 50.12 at 1.4, 1/6th of a second and ISO 50. Take THAT “tripod” action!!! Ladies are just sometimes craftier than boys…

Anyway, Derrick and Sandy- I now can’t wait to post the wedding!
